Google AdWords is now “Google Ads”
Google is in the midst of a major re-brand. “Google AdWords” as we know it will soon be gone – it’s now Google Ads.
Although I will sorely miss “AdWords,” I understand the reason for the change: “Google Ads” is a more concise description of the product.
In fact, I’ve heard many refer to AdWords as “Google Ads.” This move serves to make the platform more accessible to the average person – especially small business owners – one of Google’s main growth opportunities.
Google’s other major products will also undergo change:
- The DoubleClick platform and Google Analytics 360 are now “Google Marketing Platform”
- DoubleClick for Publishers and DoubleClick Ad Exchange are now “Google Ad Manager”
I welcome these changes. With so many products available, consolidation will make Google products more accessible and less confusing.
